When feeling guilty is a good sign.
Jun 01, 2025Do you ever feel guilty after prioritizing yourself?
Awesome.
Because that’s not true guilt.
It's what growth feels like when you're shredding old conditioning.
I call it false guilt.
False guilt is a leftover from old programming.
It's when you feel guilty after choosing rest, setting a boundary, or speaking up.
But deep down, you know it was the right choice.
False guilt doesn't ask you to change.
It's a confirmation that you're doing the right thing.
That you're reconnecting with yourself.
True guilt is different.
It's what you feel after doing something that did not align with your values.
Something you regret.
This guilt helps you take responsibility and make it right.
But when you confuse false guilt with true guilt, you punish yourself for doing what's good for you.
Not because you truly feel guilt. But because you’ve been conditioned to feel guilty for stepping outside of what society expected from you.
That’s when you hide yourself and stay small.
So next time you feel that uncomfortable feeling after honoring yourself, celebrate it. Embrace it.
Because that's not guilt. It’s growth.
The growth of you becoming more you.
